About The Book
A Life No One Will Remember. A Story You Will Never Forget.
France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.
Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world.
But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name.
If you’re looking for a book that is filled with action and crazy adventures, don’t pick this book up. This is not an action-packed fantasy story. It is a story about Addie LaRue, a girl who makes a deal with the devil to live. Little does she know, she’s going to live forever. This is her story about living her long life. A long life where no one remembers her.
Until one day, she runs into someone who does remember her.
Henry is the young man who remembers that Addie is the girl who stole a book out of the bookshop where he works and she tries to do it again.
This story is told in alternating perspectives with alternating timelines. We see Addie’s past. We see Henry’s past. We see the present of them two together.
This is honestly the only book by Victoria Schwab that I loved. I was prepared to not really enjoy this because I have only liked her books. This book was just phenomenal. Her writing and storytelling just blew me away.
Now, I can see how someone would call this book boring. This book isn’t for everyone. As there are parts that drag. To me, it’s worth it for that ending. It ended so beautifully. I was in tears. That one chapter about Henry on the roof. My heart ached.
There’s a quote I’m trying to find. Luc says it and it’s close to the end of the book. I know the word “Darling” is in it. This is what I get for not tabbing this book >.> If you know what it is, please let me know!
