Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reading Girl.
I skipped a week on TTT. Oops! I honestly was planning on quitting my blog. Until I got a surge of energy when it comes to blogging. I feel like staying home has put a damper on my mood. I haven’t read as much as I normally do, I’m trying to fix that. I haven’t posted as much, I’m working on it. Staying home 24/7 is not for me!
I wanted to talk about why I love adult romances today since today’s topic is kind of a freebie. Romance is a genre that’s getting pretty big right now. I feel like more people are reading it now. I know I used to be ashamed to read romance, especially in public.
Here are some reasons why I read adult romance:
Steamy Times: This is the main reason why I hardly read YA romances. I’m an adult, obviously. I like to read very adult content. I’m no longer ashamed to admit this. A couple of years ago, I’d go red just thinking about reading a steamy scene in public. I could care less now!
Drama: I hate having drama in my personal life. I don’t like arguing with my husband. I don’t like having family issues. Adult romance delivers this to me without me having to feel the actual stress of the drama! I love reading about imperfect relationships.
Book Boyfriends: I tend to not really swoon over fictional characters. Every now and then, I find one that I automatically decide that if I were a fictional character, I’d get with him. It’s a rate occurrence, but it does sometimes happen.
There’s A Romance For Everyone: I feel like there is a romance novel out there for everyone. There’s a bunch of different sub-genres you can choose from.
Life Lessons: In some adult romances, you can learn life lessons. It really depends on the book you read. Each romance novel has some type of lesson that needs to be learned.
Cheesiness: I’m not gonna lie, sometimes I really love a cheesy romance novel. I love a book that will make me laugh. The cheesier, the better!
You Can Read Them Any Time: There are so many different romance novels that take place during different times of the year. You can have a summer romance. Or a winter romance. There’s an abundance of books that take place in different seasons.
Different Types Of Love: I can read all kinds of love. The romance genre offers so many different types of love. You have straight love. LGBTQIA+ love. Multiple lovers. You name it, you can find a book with your preference!
Perspectives: I feel like this one is one of the most important ones. You get perspective from situations where you normally wouldn’t in real life situations. I think this falls in with “life lessons”. You never know how a person really feels about something unless you’re in their head.
Grand Gestures: I’m a sucker for the grand gesture trope thing. I love it when a character will do anything to please their significant other or tries to win their lover back. It just gets me every time!
